Escapement
Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 17, 2026
This policy covers escapementhq.com, the website you are reading. Escapement LLC is an independent software studio in Portland, Oregon. Our apps have their own privacy policies, because they handle information differently from this site. The policy for Little Grimoire is at littlegrimoire.com/privacy.html.
The short version
This is a marketing page. There is nothing to sign up for, nothing to log into, and no form to fill in. We count visits with Google Analytics, and our web server keeps ordinary access logs. We do not sell your information, we do not run ads, and we do not build advertising profiles.
What this site collects
Three things, all of them ordinary for a website:
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. It stores a cookie in your browser to tell repeat visits from new ones. Google receives your IP address, the page you are viewing, your browser and device type, the page that referred you, and an approximate location (city, region, country) worked out from the IP address.
- Server logs. Our web host records the standard access log for each request: IP address, timestamp, the page requested, browser type, and referring page. These are used to keep the site running and to look into errors and abuse.
- Email you send us. If you write to one of our addresses, we have your email address and whatever you put in the message. We use it to reply to you.
There is no account system, no newsletter signup, and no contact form on this site. We do not ask for your name, phone number, postal address, or payment details, and we have no way to collect them here.
Who receives it
Two companies, both acting as service providers for us:
- Google receives the analytics data described above, and also receives your IP address and browser type when your browser loads the fonts this page uses from Google Fonts. Google's handling of it is governed by Google's own privacy policy.
- Fly.io hosts the site and therefore handles the server logs.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else for their own purposes.
Cookies
Google Analytics is the only thing on this site that stores a cookie. It holds a random identifier so that two visits from the same browser are not counted as two different people. It carries no name or contact details. If you block or delete it, the site works exactly the same.
Do Not Track
This site does not respond to Do Not Track browser signals. Google Analytics does not act on them, so a browser sending one is still counted. We would rather say that plainly than imply an opt-out that does not work.
What does work: a tracker-blocking browser extension, Google's Analytics opt-out add-on, or blocking cookies for this site in your browser settings. Any of these stops the analytics. The server log still records the request, because that is how a web server answers it at all.
Tracking across other websites
We do not run advertising pixels, social media trackers, session recording, or anything else designed to follow you from site to site. Google Analytics is set up to measure this site only.
Google is a large company whose products appear on many websites, so we will not make promises about behaviour that is not ours to control. What we can tell you is what we have configured and what we ask for, and that is the measurement described above.
How long we keep it
In Google Analytics, event data is kept for 2 months and user data for 14 months. After that, Google deletes those records. Aggregate visit counts outlive both windows, but they are totals and describe no one in particular. Server logs are kept for a short operational window and then rotate out. Email you send us is kept for as long as it is useful to have the thread.
Your choices and rights
The blocking options above stop the analytics at the source, which is the most direct control available to you.
Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to ask what personal information a company holds about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. Residents of California, the EU, and the UK have such rights, among others. We hold very little about any individual visitor and nothing that identifies you by name, so in most cases there will be little to act on. Write to us anyway and we will tell you honestly what we have.
Children
This site is a company page aimed at a general adult audience. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change what this site collects or who receives it, we will update this page and change the "Last updated" date above. If the change is a significant one, we will say so on the page rather than quietly revising it.
